Join the Hammers & Harvest Build Challenge

September 1 – December 23, 2025

Together, let's build homes and hope this harvest season!

This fall, step up, stand out, and make a difference by joining the Hammers and Harvest Build Challenge—a hands-on volunteer experience for businesses in the community. Rally your coworkers, form a volunteer crew, and help us build affordable homes for families across the Cedar Valley.

Whether you’re swinging a hammer or painting a frame, your time on site directly fuels Iowa Heartland Habitat’s mission—and keeps our builds on track through the colder months.

Why Join the Challenge?

Team Up & Compete

Form a crew and commit to one or more build days. Compete in fun categories like most hours served and more.

Get Exclusive Gear

The first 500 to sign up will receive a custom “Hammers & Harvest Build Challenge” shirt—perfect for photos and showing your pride.

Be Recognized

Top crews will be honored at a special celebration in January with awards, refreshments, and a volunteer photo slideshow.

See Your Impact

Watch your hours build up on the Digital Impact Tracker Wall and get weekly shout-outs on social media.

Feel the Gratitude

Volunteers who serve 8+ hours will receive a personal thank-you card from an Iowa Heartland Habitat homeowner family.

This is more than a challenge—it’s your chance to build something lasting. Grab your team. Claim your date. Let’s show everyone what we can do when we build together.

Volunteer Team Sign Up

When you sign up your Volunteer Crew, you'll be able to view and select from available build dates that fit your team’s schedule. Our Commitment to Belonging and Opportunity
At Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity, we believe every person deserves a place to call home—and a community where they are welcomed, respected, and empowered to thrive. Rooted in our faith and guided by our commitment to Koinonia, we work to expand opportunity and foster belonging through every aspect of our mission—from how we build and who we serve to the culture we cultivate within our team. As an equal opportunity employer and housing organization, we reject discrimination in any form and strive to model a world where compassion and opportunity lead to lasting change. We welcome people of all backgrounds, identities, and abilities—including members of the LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities, people of all faiths or none, and people of all abilities—because when we unite through God’s love, we build more than homes—we build community and hope for all.
