Kaylynn’s home is coming together, but winter is on the way. You can help by donating. We need your support to get it closed in before the cold weather arrives.
Kaylynn is a single mother to two children, ages 5 and 7, working more than 60 hours a week as both a CNA and CMA while completing her sweat-equity hours for the Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity Homeownership Program. “It will change my life tremendously knowing I worked hard for it, and knowing that it is mine,” she says.
She and her children currently live in temporary housing at the House of Hope. While grateful for the stability, Kaylynn longs for privacy, comfort, and a home that truly belongs to her family. She dreams of decorating her own space and putting up a backyard fence where her kids can safely play. “This home will be made for me and my family.”
After waiting five years to be accepted into the program, Kaylynn says to supporters, “Anything you can afford to donate, I appreciate every single dollar. Thank you for having an open heart and thank you for going out of your way to make my dreams come true.”
On this Giving Tuesday, take a moment to explore the photo library from Kaylynn’s home and see the progress happening thanks to supporters like you.
The images are organized by date so you can follow her build step by step. If you spot yourself in a photo, feel free to download and share it — and don’t forget to tag us!
At Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity, we believe every person deserves a place to call home—and a community where they are welcomed, respected, and empowered to thrive. Rooted in our faith and guided by our commitment to Koinonia, we work to expand opportunity and foster belonging through every aspect of our mission—from how we build and who we serve to the culture we cultivate within our team. As an equal opportunity employer and housing organization, we reject discrimination in any form and strive to model a world where compassion and opportunity lead to lasting change. We welcome people of all backgrounds, identities, and abilities—including members of the LGBTQ+ and BIPOC communities, people of all faiths or none, and people of all abilities—because when we unite through God’s love, we build more than homes—we build community and hope for all.
