For this homeowner, the backyard deck had become more of a hazard than a place to relax. Years of wear had left the deck boards severely deteriorated, making it unsafe to walk across. Simply stepping outside or enjoying time on the deck had become a daily safety concern.

Through Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity's Critical Home Repair program, the aging deck was restored with brand-new deck boards, creating a safe and sturdy outdoor space. In addition, damaged exterior corners and sections of siding were repaired, strengthening the home's exterior and helping protect it from the elements.

These repairs did more than improve the appearance of the home—they restored peace of mind. The homeowner can once again step outside with confidence, enjoy their outdoor space safely, and know their home is better protected for years to come. By addressing these critical repairs, we helped preserve both the home and the quality of life it provides.
