Volunteer with the ReStore

Our general volunteers assist in many different ways from helping customers to inspecting, cleaning and testing incoming donations and more. Below are some tasks you might help with. To be a general volunteer, there are some qualifications and requirements also listed below and a time commitment of a minimum of two shifts per month for a minimum three months.
No prior volunteer experience is necessary for this opportunity.

Tasks

Tasks will vary with each volunteer opportunity, but may include the following:

  • Provide general assistance to customers
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of aisles and merchandise
  • Complete donation intake forms
  • Unload and staging donated items
  • Inspect, clean and test incoming donations
  • Package and label incoming donations
  • Stock the sales floor
  • Disassemble items for recycling
  • Dispose of materials as needed

Qualifications

  • Friendly and helpful attitude
  • Willingness to help a diverse customer base
  • Self-motivated
  • Outgoing personality
  • Act as the face/ambassador for Iowa Heartland
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs./team lift when necessary
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment
  • Ability to stay on your feet for an extended period of time

Requirements

  • Volunteers must complete the ReStore orientation to volunteer in the position
  • Volunteers age 16 and older are welcome

Shifts available

8 volunteers needed per shift:
Tuesday–Friday
8:45 am–12:15 pm
12:00–3:30 pm
3:00–6:30 pm

Saturday
8:45 am–12:15 pm
12:00–3:30 pm
A minimum of 2 shifts per month for a minimum 3 months.
